I've been dragging my feet all day about posting here. And it's late, but I had to share this picture with you.

What is that on my head? Was I playing nun? Day at the races? Ideas are appreciated, and encouraged.

P.S. Additionally, what were we all staring at? The space we are looking at is the entrance to the dining room with a great view of...the dining room table? It looks like we're looking at a TV, but there's certainly no TV there. Curious. Suggestions welcome and encouraged, again.

Hi all! I'm quite busy this week, as Eric's wonderful parents are in from Illinois (and by wonderful, I mean they just said "Go post on your website and we'll do the dishes!"), but I wanted to share this gorgeous Etsy find with you all. As the daughter of a watercolor artist, anything with a watercolor look always catches my eye, so when I saw Long Island (yes!) native Vivien Pollack's scarves, I fell in love with their dazzling colors, artistic look, and subtly dramatic flair. The scarf pictured, the Spring Bouquet scarf, is handpainted on "flat crepe, which is a hybrid of habotai and crepe de chine." It's 10x58 inches, making it a perfect accessory for your Spring and Summer outfits. Further, it gets sent to you wrapped up in a gold bag! How regal. Vivien also can create custom scarves and only uses imported French dyes...oh, and did I mention that they are so reasonably priced?! Remember, Mother's Day is just around the corner....!

I was really excited to see that one of our links from Outbrain was an article on Real Simple. It made me feel like I was famous, famous! Like Lovely had finally made it. Then I gave myself an anti-pep talk (coining that term) and reminded myself that these ads are automatically generated by the amazing souls at Outbrain* and that Real Simple did not seek my little website out to advertise on it. Then I went to Real Simple and was reading this great article about organization. There I met Michele Bender, freelance writer, Mommy, New Yorker, unbelievably organized digital photo keeper. From the Real Simple feature:

"Michele’s home-office storage includes a drawer where cords and chargers live in tangle-free bliss. Just below is her showpiece: a photo filing system that holds a decade’s worth of family shots, beautifully organized on colorful CDs. Whenever Michele transfers images to discs, she deletes them from her iPhoto library.

"For digital images: Color-code your collection by storing discs in vibrant cases (slim jewel cases, $11.50 for 25, staples.com)―blue for parties, green for trips, and so on. Use empty cases positioned vertically and marked by the year as dividers; they’ll extend about a half inch above the others.

For old-school snapshots: Mail photos to ScanCafe.com and get them back in digitized form. About 1,200 images (from 29 cents a photo) fit on a DVD; CDs hold far fewer. The company touches up images in a climate-controlled facility monitored 24/7 by armed guards. You can track your precious cargo online every step of the way, and the originals are returned when the process is complete."

ScanCafe.com sounds amazing! It's the opposite of Shutterfly! It would have saved me from having to scan in all, most, a large portion of (whatever) our family photos! To have the images organized and safe is well worth 29 cents a shot, and think: you'd know images like this--

are safe. Well worth it, in my lovely opinion.

* For full disclosure purposes Outbrain is not paying me, I'm just that obsessed. Next time I should wait for the money first.

White vintage faux-leather bag. 10 inches wide and 6 inches long. The inside is clean and large enough to hold a wallet, keys, and phone. It closes securely with a gold colored clasp. The frame of the bag is gold colored metal. The faux-leather is in great shape, with just the perfect amount of vintage markings to make it look vintage. The strap is approximately 25 inches long. From Lovely's own store!

Okay Lovelies, big news for you all: We're going to revamp, re-construct, and re-evaluate our Lovely shop. Last summer we sold off a bunch of vintage finds, and in the in-between months, we just haven't had the time to scour Long Island for new one-of-a-kind pieces for you all. However, this is about to change! We're adding new aprons, new hats, new quilts, and new vintage pieces all within the next few weeks. BUT, we want to know: What do YOU want to see in the shop? What do you like to buy?! More vintage pieces? Clothing? Accessories? More locally made Long Island items? More handmade items? We need your input so we can make the Lovely store work for the people that we care about most: You All! Leave a suggestion in the comments, on our Facebook or Twitter, or as always, send us loveliness! Thanks, beauts!

Mornin', lovelies! I don't know what the weather is like by you, but here on Long Island, it is rain, rain, rain! If you're stuck inside because of the rain/work today, check out the beautiful creations from Palm Harbor Creations. PHC is a mother-daughter team and all of their items ship free (within the United States)! We've actually posted about them before, but I was looking at their shop the other day and fell in love with this Adventurine and Silver Necklace. I love the muted green tones and silver embellishments of this piece, as well as the fact that it would go perfectly with jeans and a t-shirt, or your fanciest party dress.

Did you know that Olivia and I are now Lovely Casting? It's sort of like life casting, the process of sharing one's life with the internet. Olivia and I are boring, so we'll spare you that, but we are sharing everything we think is Lovely as well as some of our [slightly more] interesting daily activities. We hope you'll go check them out, follow us on Tumblr and enjoy the small loveliness of our days! Click on either of our pictures to take you to our Lovely Casts!

*There also are, and always will be, links on the side of this page!

When I saw this pitcher I leaned over to Luis and said "Doesn't this pitcher look just like a hummingbird?" For once he agreed. I had to laugh when I was creeping Dennis Meiners' Etsy Shop, and noticed a mention in the profile that Dennis and his wife "Leslie Lee...have spent most of the last two decades building an adobe studio and strawbale house which [they] call HUMMINGBIRD." I mean, what are the chances?

I just love, love this unusual piece. It's so proud-- it looks like it's playing the trumpet, shoulders back, face to the sun. I really see a proud stature in this pitcher. This is another prime example of a piece of art work posing as a kitchen utensil. Art is a difficult investment for the 20something set, often, it's hard to spend a nice amount of cash on something you cannot use, which might not grow in value. And sure, an expensive pitcher is still an expensive something, but you can use it. It can move easily with you, and serve your needs throughout your lifetime together. Yes, your lifetime with your pitcher-- you don't develop relationships with ceramics? Stop looking at me like that.

Happy Friday, y'all! Eric and I both woke up sick today, no fun. However, at least we're not missing the sun here on Long Island--it's back to being rainy and cold! So, snuggle up with some hot cocoa, your bathrobe, and a lovely headband to check out my Lovely internet finds of this week. This weekend we don't have a ton going on...thank God! Tonight our Lovely brother, Collin, is due home from Europe! Eric and I will be spending the weekend hunting for cheap tickets to North Carolina for a bluegrass festival; anyone have any good tricks for finding cheap tickets? What are you all doing this weekend? Do share!

I love, love, love the huge variety of chocolates sold at Elbow Chocolates. The store, based in Missouri, sells flavors of chocolate such as Bananas Foster, Strawberry Balsamic Caramel, Lavender Caramel, Rosemary Carmel, and Masala Chai. Not only are the flavors outrageously delicious sounding, but the chocolate confections are minute pieces of art! I love this.

What's cooler than a Nintendo gameboy dress? Uh, pretty much nothing. You know we here at Lovely love interesting dresses, so when comic writer extraordinaire Jorge Vega passed this dress on to us, we knew we had to share it with you all!

Not sure how I'm feeling about the Disney Bridal collection...you can browse dresses by Princess. I'd be Snow White (pictured), though she was more housewife than princess, but that's neither here nor there. I always looked like her as a little girl, with the dark hair, dark eyes, and pale skin, so people said I was akin to her. This obviously begs the question: What Disney Princess Are You?

Have a great weekend!

1. I'm always a little overdressed. I can't help it. Olivia is such a rock star in jeans and a t shirt and uggs. I feel wrong in them, leggings work for me. But I tend to overdress. Well...except for the one in the red dress, that was my uncle's wedding--but I was totally overdressed for jumping on the bed!

2. I once baked 50 apple pies in a few days, packaged and delivered them. Well, not just me--Audie and I together. Still, a feat.

3. I love to dress in theme. Not costumes, dressing in theme. I wore these outfits like it was the most normal thing. Well, besides making my mother do a photo-shoot of me in my playhouse.

Am watching Real Housewives of New York, and Kelly Bensimone just said to Luann De Lesseps, a Countess. Or was a Countess and is now divorced? We're all confused over that, including Luann. Wouldn't you look into that if you were a Countess in the process of divorce? Anyway, Kelly decided to introduce Luann as Countess because...

"...Like you are a Countess.. you're charitable, you're lovely."

By this same theory I am a Countess! And so are you lovely readers! Congratulations!

Good evening, lovelies. I wish I could post smells here...I currently have dinner in the crockpot and it smells absolutely amazing in here. I'm making London broil with onions and apples, rice, and a giant salad. Yum. Can't wait for Eric to be home so we can eat! Anyway, I just wanted to share something pretty cool with you all. I was looking around online for birthday presents for Eric's amazingly wonderful sister and decided, "Hey, why not look at good ol' Barnes&Noble?" They have quick shipping and are a classic, reliable website. I usually do use Amazon, but sometimes the largeness of Amazon can be overwhelming. I just wanted a great gift find, but I didn't know what I was even looking for. Then I stumbled upon this: Barnes and Noble Home! Did you know they sold all sorts of home goodies? There's more: Food&Gourmet gifts! They also have a cool furniture section, as well as a whole "gift giving" category. I'll definitely be using Barnes&Noble more now...I love that they are expanding in such classy ways! (Also, they have free shipping on orders over $25!)

So, I've been busy looking for venues for a party I'm working on all morning, calling managers and discussing prices. But then Olivia said "Did you post yet?" while standing over the omelet she's making me, and I felt that was a passive aggressive way of saying "POST, Party-Planning-Girl, Post!" More to come later, on pitchers...would you ever have guessed? For now, enjoy this shot of me from this morning.

I'm wondering, any suggestions of great restaurants that should host this party in Manhattan? What are your loveliest Manhattan suggestions? I'm looking at Beacon, Jo's (whose manager I just accidentally called on his personal cell phone! Oops! It was the number posted for private events!), Cafe 50 West (where the Chef/GM invited me in for drinks so we could discuss the party!) and L'Artusi (I'm a fan of the other venture from these young men, Dell Anima).

Any opinions on these places? I'd love to know!

I've had cupcakes on my mind recently. I'm not really sure why, except for the fact that the phrase "mea culpcake" had me in stitches. That's what you get for being a Latin major in college. Anyhow, check out these beyond adorable and lovely cupcake toppers; not only are they affordable, but they are sure to perk up any party and spruce up your cupcake style. Sugar Robot creates edible (and very lifelike!) butterflies, which I could easily see on anything from a simple cupcake, to a birthday cake, to a wedding cake (how gorgeous would that be?). They are handmade and for $8.95, you get twenty assorted butterflies! Love it. If you're looking for a little more playful, check out Clineff's Confections for fondant creations that make any simple, boring cupcake into a piece of art! I love the nautical designs (perfect for summer barbecues!); they are adorable and very clean and professional looking. The pink swirl toppers would be a great addition to any bridal or baby shower; I'd love to have these for our annual clothing swap! For $6.95 you get 12 toppers--great deal! These also come in custom designs...what would you get on a cupcake topper?

Being the premier pitcher collector (that Luis knows, on Long Island, in this house, the only one I know of) in the whole, wide world, I always have my eye open for a new, special piece. When I was in Scotland I picked up a pewter beer stein with a ballooned bottom and a spout. Looked like a pitcher to me! For £10 it was entirely worth it. More than worth it, it was a memory of my trip. Good friends know an easy present is a pitcher. Alex got me two for my birthday, Audie got me one for graduation, and Liliput Studios recently sent along the best package ever with a piece just like this one. Which I wear every day, every day.

All that being said-- I'm obsessed with this pitcher from Pinet Pottery. I love the unique shape, the strange spout, how it looks different from every angle. It's not just a useful kitchen piece, it's an art piece. Form meets function. And that's why I love pitchers.

It's just about that time of year again: wedding season! Do you have a ton of weddings to go to this year and not all the cash-money in the world to spend on presents? Check out this adorable, personalized present from Cozy Blue; it's a screenprinted pillow cover of a tree with your names or initials "carved" in. I love this idea! The tree is screen printed, but the heart and initials are embroidered on, giving the pillow texture and originality. This pillow cover fits a 12x12 pillow form, which you can easily get at any craft store for cheap. And, at $32 (plus $3 shipping), this pillow cover is a great steal for a wedding gift/bridal shower gift/engagement present. It'll definitely make the bride-to-be smile!

Vanity Fair is featuring a very interesting article about the culture and social circle surrounding Lehman Brother's at it's height, titled Lehman's Desperate Housewives. The article focuses on four families lovingly called the "Huntington Mafia" because they all lived close to each other in Huntington, New York. Well, I never knew this! It's always a little funny to hear your hometown named on CNBC. Beyond that, the article is very interesting. It's a life style I can't even imagine, but was apparently living very, very close to. Who knew!?

Well hello! Happy Spring, Lovelies! Weird confession: sometimes when I write I am speaking in a Southern accent in my head. That's weird. I am so doing it right now. And I've been informed that sometimes I fall into a Southern accent, totally unintentionally. I find this odd and if I was around me and not me, really annoying. I am a Long Island girl, born and bred. And the North Shore at that! Where on earth does this accent spring from? Spring. Spring! Spring is here!

Can you tell I'm a bit giddy? Today I walked into CVS and found myself running back to Luis every 3 and a half seconds going "PEEPS!" and then "EASTER CANDY BARS" and then "SUGAR FREE PEEPS!" and then I made my purchase, but he was still reading a magazine. So I went on with "Look it's a chocolate bunny!" and "Omygosh! They all have names!"

I bought Sugar Free Peeps and Palmer Easter Chocolate bars in packages of 6, both were sold for $1.50. 6 candy bars for $1.50, that's a quarter for a candy bar! Thus I began a challenge: how little money can I spend making Easter Baskets. I can think of eleven people off the top of my head who I would present with a basket. But if I buy things, I will buy them efficiently and with financial savvy in mind.

So far I have 17 bars (yes, one may have been consumed) for $4.50. They are nicely sized though and will be a big part of the basket. I also have a ton of left over sucking candies from Olivia's birthday party. Right into the basket. I think instead of baskets I will recycle magazines into shredded paper (think Easter basket grass) and make little nests where the gifts will lie. For the younger kids I want to make little coloring books, but for the older kids and adults I'm at a loss. Any ideas for cute Easter non-edible treats? Let me know!

Lately money has been on my mind; you see, I want to spend some, but I don't have too much to spend. Eric and I are trying to be "responsible adults" with our money choices, so out goes the once in a while "whoops, I spent too much money" shopping trips or the "Oh, I so need another pair of brown boots, even though I have 5 pairs" impromptu buy. However, because of stores, such as Forever21, I can easily stay in style and feel good about my purchases. They offer well-made clothing and jewelry at great prices; just the other day I was wearing my fake diamond earrings from Forever21, and my grandmother thought they were real. Pretty good fakeout. Anyhow, I know we're all strapped for cash right now, so when it comes time to getting a present for a lovely friend, or for yourself, it's hard to know what to do. But, check out these amazing, beyond amazing, deals from Forever21's earrings collection (bracelets to come next). You won't find deals like this anywhere! Remember, it's not always easy to live lovely for cheap, but it can be done, and done with style and class.

  • The Pearl Earring Set (1) comes six in a pack, making each pair of earrings .46 cents!
  • I love the Rhinestone Stud Earring Set (2), which comes with nine pairs of earrings, and at a total price of $3.80, each pair is only .42 cents! (also comes in multiple colors)
  • The bright and colorful Pop Rhinestone Earring Set (3) comes with five big stud sets, making each pair of earrings .76 cents each. Not a bad price for style!
  • The Carla Hoops Stud Set (4) is a perfect present because it has a wide variety of nine different pairs, including studs and hoops. For .53 cents each, this is a steal of a find!
  • Further, the Hoops&Heart Earring Set (5) also offers a variety of three different hoops and three very different studs, making this set of six a great deal, with each pair of earrings still under a dollar at .80 cents each. Lovely!
  • The most expensive earrings, The Rhinestone Stud Set (6), that I am posting today, I happen to have and know that they look amazing and are certainly worth the very expensive deal of $1.93 a pair; they may be a bit pricey, but they will last a lifetime and always be in style.
  • The Majestic Earring Trio (7) has a beautiful antique look to it, but at $1.26 a pair, these earrings are definitely not priced like antique jewelry!
  • And, the winner for the totally, utterly, most lovely, and best deal of the day is the Riza Rhinestone Earring Set (8); first of all, this set is available in two colors; second, at $3.80 for the set, which includes ten (10!) pairs of earrings: .38 cents a pair! Outstanding.
Which of these incredibly great priced earrings would you wear?!

Lovelies, it's Friday and you know what that means, don't you? I'm sharing with you my favorite recent "internet finds" in order to give you reason to stay in your pajamas, with your coffee, for a few extra minutes this weekend, and catch up on some Lovely reading. What are you all doing this weekend? Eric and I are seeing not one, but two bluegrass concerts (perks of dating a bluegrass musician, eh?). On Saturday night we're seeing Tony Rice (Tony Rice Sings Gordon Lightfoot is one of my favorite albums), and on Sunday afternoon, Miller's Crossing. I'm super excited for Miller's Crossing because we met the band recently and they're not only beyond amazing musicians, but cool people, as well. Not only is today a Friday, but it's the start of Spring Break for me! Do you have any plans for the break? Eric's parents are coming to visit, which I cannot wait for, but other than that, I'll be Lovely-ing, walking in the park, and enjoying the start to Spring. Have a great weekend, beauts!

Did you see the Mad Men Barbie Doll collection? Their eyes sort of scare me, but it's a fun concept.

Speaking of dolls, a few students tipped me off to this very odd Cabbage Patch Doll website...and what's weirder is that I sort of want to visit this place.

Some other students (they were a wealth of knowledge this week!), who apparently know my style pretty well, introduced me to Sweetiepie restaurant in Manhattan. Man, this place is adorable, gorgeous, and delicious looking. Has anyone ever been there? I can't wait to go!

Have any of you heard of "24 hour bridal showers"? What an odd and interesting concept! What would you get for someone for "4am"?

And last, but not least, I'm loving that Jordan from Ramshackleglam made Glamour's Engagement Chicken...hers looks delicious!

Also, don't forget to check out these Lovely posts you may have missed!

Learn how to dress like Eloise!

Check out photographs from my 1900s Boardwalk party.

Are American Idol style flowers in the hair your thing? These would be gorgeous on anyone!

One of my lovely friends Sarah, from college, is getting married. Sarah and her very cute fiance are trying to win a wedding through Crate&Barrel (go vote for them here! Their story is totally adorable). So, this morning while voting for them, I had weddings on my mind. I noticed that her fiance's last name started with a P, and Sarah's with a G, so her initials would be changing when they married (assuming she takes his name). I remember once my mother said to me, "never marry a man with the same last initial as yours...it's bad luck to not change your initials!" At the time I didn't think much of it, because my parents both had the same last initial (D) and were in the process of getting divorced (also starts with a D), so I thought it was just something she was saying. However, I decided this morning to look it up and see if my mother was making things up, or this was an actual superstition. (My parents were my age when they got married. See how excited they are to be married? Enthralling.)

Well, according to Brideandgroom.com, "It was also believed to be bad luck to marry someone who shared the same last initial." So perhaps mommy dearest wasn't making this up? Has anyone ever heard of this superstition/tradition before? I think it had something to do with starting a new life (and in older days, being under the "ownership" of a husband instead of a father...isn't being a woman simply lovely? ha!) and becoming a new person, with new initials. I'm just excited for getting married someday to get all new tote bags with new initials...is that wrong of me to say?

Some other odd and interesting traditions I came across:

  • On the bridal shower: "Originally intended to strengthen friendships between the bride and her female friends, in the 1890's, it evolved into an occasion for friends to present the bride-to be with small gifts. In fact, the gifts were placed in a parasol, which was opened above the bride's head, allowing the gifts to "shower" down upon her." Ahhh, now everything makes sense!

  • On the wedding attendants/party: "This tradition stems from the Anglo-Saxon tradition of a groom using 'Brides knights' to ensure that the bride got to the wedding and got to his home after the ceremony without being attacked and the dowry stolen. As weddings became more elaborate affairs, the use of bridesmaids became more common. They were responsible for helping the bride get dressed and to help decorate for the ceremony."

  • Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue: "A Victorian rhyme that recognizes the importance of old friends, new beginnings, happiness, fidelity, and prosperity. "Old" stands for old friends; "new" represents the beginning of a new family; carrying something "borrowed" from a happily married friend represent borrowed happiness, the carrying of something "blue" represents purity and modesty. The sixpence in the shoe was worn to bring prosperity to the couple."
Did you change your initials when you got married? Will you change your name? Does your family have any wedding traditions of their own? Remember to vote for Sarah and Jed so they can have the wedding of their dreams! (And, really because I want to know someone who wins one of these contests.)

Real Simple Magazine turns 10 this month. And that means good things for you. For example, the magazine is filled with tons of amazing tips on this luscious paper you just want to sit down with and leaf through for hours, and there's enough in the magazine where you can leaf through for hours.

Then you remember they have an amazing website, and click on over and there are lists such as "10 Smart Uses For Old Plastic Bags" and "Trench Coats for Every Figure" and "10 Easy, Cheesy Recipes" (um, yes please).

So, yesterday I displayed my dislike for Target's Liberty line, which I am sure left you standing there, speechless, thinking, "But, Olivia, where can I get pretty floral dresses for the Spring and Summer?" Right? Of course, right. Don't fret, beauts, here are some of my favorite stylish, sexy, and "Liberty-like" dresses which would be perfect for Spring (which starts in three days!). Which of these dresses would you wear to a garden party? Carnival? Graduation ceremony? I love all of these, as they are gorgeous, modern, yet classic, and flatter all the beautiful curves of a woman's body.

1. Floral Pleated Linen Dress; 2. Flutter Capsleeve Floral Dress; 3. Eve Floral Knit Dress; 4. Gwen Floral Dress; 5. Maggie Printed Dress; 6. Went To A Garden Party Dress; 7. Cotton Pink Maribou Halter Dress; 8. Printed Short Jumpsuit

The always Lovely Maya emailed me this great picture of her from high school. She writes: "Here is a sweet picture from senior year I believe at Pancho Villa. Gotta love the matching jacket and hat. Hey, I grew up at FA (our high school) and didn't know how to dress down.... that's my excuse..."All I can see in this picture is a girl having a great time! Okay, okay, the hat isn't great, but Maya is just being so Maya in that picture--happy, excited, smile-inspiring! Keep those pictures coming lovelies, we want more!

P.S. I had no idea how to dress down either, Maya. You're not the only one. I wore loafers on the weekend until...well, come to think of it, I wear boat shoes now...I still don't know how to dress down!

I just stepped outside to fight with the dog about coming inside, long story short she'd like to stay outside and I'd like her not to bark at 7:45 AM, and it is so familiar outside. Yes, familiar. This is just the type of morning I remember from high school, when you know it will be warmer by the time you get to school (40 minutes later) but when you get on the bus its freezing, so you walk across the yard with bare legs. And it's so cold, but so beautiful out too.

My high school dress code required a button down shirt (or a turtle neck), a nice "modest length" skirt or slacks, dresses with covered arms and no denim. Heels had to be under 3 or so inches and we had to have backs (no clogs). The dress code was difficult to work with because from 2001-2004 Office Chic was not in. Skirts were not in, dresses were not in. In 2005 these items trickled onto the scene, and I'm sort of jealous of the girls who are there now because they have a ton of trendy options.

Man, unfortunately for you guys I can't find many pictures of my ill-advised, frustrating early high school outfits. Fit was always, always a problem for me and it wasn't until I lost some weight and grew up a bit senior year that I started dressing nicely. But I can't find many pictures of that either.Best Friend, Audie, and I during Junior year of high school. It's quite an outfit. Also, check out the jousting occurring behind us, classic.

And two of this outfit, because...uh...I look good. Dress was from Express, has since been given away, and the sweater is J. Crew, I think Olivia stole it. What a difference a year makes, right?

What about you lovelies, any high school fashion horror stories? I'm going to keep looking for pictures to embarrass myself/amuse you all with. In the mean time, share, share!

You know those moments in life when you were really, really excited about something and then whatever it was occurs and it falls flat on it's face and doesn't live up to what it should have been? That pretty much sums up my feelings about Target's new line of Liberty of London clothing. Let me backtrack here: I love Liberty of London. Growing up, it was practically all we wore. My grandmother sewed us dresses upon dresses of the gorgeous material. So, when I saw that Liberty was coming to the masses at Target, I literally fell out of my seat (ask Eric, I really did). I couldn't wait to buy new dresses, bags, whatever...I was out of my mind excited. To me, Liberty represents beauty, my childhood, class, and tradition. However, I just think Target missed the mark on this one. Like I said, Liberty is tea parties, white gloves, and pastel pumps; it's sunny days, and sweet cardigans, and Springtime. Here's my issues with this new line: the prints are outdated...they look retro, instead of traditional and classic. I'm not even feeling that they are Liberty as much as Old Navy circa 1994. And the styles of the dresses...oh, man. All I get is "blah" from them. They are baggy, unflattering, poorly designed, and simply, in my opinion, sort of cheesy.

What this line should have consisted of is dresses in styles and cuts such as The Kellie Eyelet Dress, or the Nadine Eyelet Dress, or the Madeline Dress, or even the Livia Floral Dress (all Delias). These are form-fitting, classic, sexy and adorable dresses. They could all easily be made out of Liberty material and still look fantastic. When it comes down to it, when one thinks of Liberty, they think "pretty" and the Target dresses are simply not that. They're boring. The whole line from Liberty at Target wasn't done correctly, it feels like everything was made as an afterthought. What do you think, lovelies? Would you buy any of these Liberty dresses? Have you? Do share!

It's almost Spring here, Lovelies! In Russia and a number of other European countries it is already Spring! Lucky them. What's more Springy-Summery than a white eyelet dress? Uhm, not much. I wore a white eyelet dress to my high school graduation, actually. They are perfectly spring, look amazing with a pair of gold sandals, or a stacked wedge in a pretty brown suede. Match it with a jean jacket, a sweet sweater or leave your pretty arms bare to catch the lovely rays of the sun. I love the Belted Eyelet Dress's pretty neckline and smart cinched waist. The straps are thick enough to cover bra straps (often a problem with floaty summer sun dresses) and the dress can be dressed up or dressed down to go from your five year reunion (yes, that's coming up, see you June 5th fellow Quakers) all the way to a casual barn blue grass jam with Eric on the banjo and cowboy boots on my feet!

For more information, pictures and to buy the Belted Eyelet Dress, click here!

Oh my, oh my, oh my! I am just watching "Eloise At the Plaza" and I most certainly need to be Eloise for Halloween.

Luxe Pleat Skirt, Classic Men's/ Womens Adjustable Fashion Suspenders (lots of colors), White Knee High Stockings

kensie Women's Blouse, Signature Satin Bow Headband, Kimchi Blue Patent T-Strap Skimmer.

I plan on walking around all night with a plush pug I refer to as Weenie and saying things like "I am Eloise. I'm six" and "
I absolutely love the plaza" and making fun of Nanny's "rawther" British accent. Who better to go as Eloise than a (by then) 23 year old woman? It was a book written for "precocious adults"! It wasn't even written or intended for children! Now I just have to figure out at least three nights of Halloween so I can dress as Lucy Ricardo (though, I basically act like her on a daily basis), Olive Hoover (Little Miss Sunshine!) and now, Eloise. Oh my, oh my, oh my. There's just never enough time, is there?

Today Olivia turns 25. That makes it 23 birthdays I've celebrated with her. Consistently on Olivia's birthdays growing up there would be a snow storm and the power would go out and none of her friends would be able to come and the party would be cancelled. This was almost expected by the time she ceased having birthday parties, around 13. So, I don't know why we expected it to be any different when she had her big 25th Quarter Life Crisis Soiree. But it wasn't. And just like all those years of cancelled birthdays, or only one guest showing up, or like one awful year, a mother getting into a car accident on the way to pick her daughter up, Olivia never complained, never got upset, never whined "WHY ME, WHY ME" like some other sisters (Leos, me) would have done. Everyone got there, with the help of Luis and Eric. And everyone had a lovely time with our beautiful birthday girl.

Happy Birthday to the best co-owner, operator, friend, professional "you don't look fat"-er, and sister. Maybe one year you can have a party people can actually make it to!

So, I'm doin' it, kids, I am sportin' the headband with the bow to work. I figure, what better a time to wear a headband with a bow than on your birthday, right? Headband is the Everyday Bow Headband from Forever21 (headband is $1.50!!) and the earrings are from the Round Rhinestone Stud Set (I love fake diamonds). I can't get enough headbands lately, I don't know what's wrong with me. I got three beautiful new headbands from a friend and Lovely reader for my birthday--can't wait to wear them in the Spring! I apologize for the "lack of sleep" look in my eyes...it was a long weekend! (Ring is a gift from Eric from when we started dating. It's a posey ring (which I love) that he bought on our trip to Williamsburg, VA. The ring says, "Vous et nul autre" which is French for "you and no other." I can't find it on the Williamsburg Marketplace site, but the same ring is here.)

Morning Lovelies! What's the only way to make a Monday not feel like a Monday (as much)? When that Monday is your birthday! That's right, friends, today I am twenty-five. I can't believe it! This weekend, a bunch of my most dear lovelies came out from Manhattan to celebrate with me. Unfortunately, a tree fell on the railroad tracks and they were stranded on the train for a bit. However, with the heroic efforts of some Lovely boyfriends, the friends were rescued and the partying commenced. The theme of the party was 1900s boardwalk/carnival--therefore, the menu played off of this (unique?) theme: sausage sandwiches, corndogs, soft pretzels, old timey candy, root beer, waffle fries, and of course, cupcakes. I have to admit, I didn't do much for this shindig, except clean (a little); party planner extraordinaire, Jenny, and expert apartment cleaner, Eric, threw everything together this weekend. Jenny designed everything from the invites to the decorations to the menu; this party simply would not have happened without her. Check out some shots from the party and answer me this: what's the best theme party you've ever been to? The weirdest? Do share! Thanks for sharing my birthday with me, loves!

Decorations made by Jenny; the "spicy," "sweet," and "vegetarian" signs were for the sausages.

I loved the cupcake hats on the cupcakes! I have one smart and creative sister.

Me and the birthday boyfriend. He worked all weekend making sure everything was where it was supposed to be and everyone got where they were supposed to go!

Some of the loveliest ladies around who came out, in a storm, to celebrate with me.
