So, Eric and I love have this thing about antiques. He loves to look for instruments (duh), and old hand tools, and I love finding weird, unique, and cool objects. While down in Colonial Williamsburg, we googled for some antique shops to try out, and came across The Williamsburg Antique Mall. It is 45,000 square feet of antiques, plus the cutest little tea room for lunch and treats! We spent three hours there and I don't think we even saw everything. Furthermore, it was the most organized antique mall I have ever seen. They give you a map upon arrival, with a pencil, so you can mark down where you see the things you like. Also, they were super sweet; I was carrying a few things and an older gentleman came over and asked to take everything and hold it for me so I could keep shopping. It was so well run! They really had something for everyone. Eric ended up with a hand plane and a banjo uke, and I got that cool Country Music belt below (which will become a guitar strap for me, the belt is giant), and a little pitcher for Jenny. It was such a nice way to stay out of the heat and see new things!
PS. We took a cab there from the Woodlands Hotel, which was about $20 each way; there really was no other way to do it, but it paid off in the long run.
I store my buttons at home like this! |
How cute is this tea room? I adored sitting here for a cup of tea sangria, soup, and cake! |
