Lovelies, riddle me this: What's a gal to do when she's cuddled up on her in-laws couch, her father-in-law is making her mounds of pancakes, and she has her Nook in front of her filled with fun reads? Why, pair those pancakes with an Elvis book, of course! (I'm pairing the gluttony of the pancakes with Elvis' wild hedonism, here...following?) Baby, Let's Play House: Elvis Presley and the Women Who Loved Him is a) a perfect book for the Kindle or Nook because it's 800 pages long, and b) totally addictive. Alanna Nash does an amazing job at weaving Elvis' life story with all the crazy threads of women in his life who fell head over heals for the King. And let me tell you: there were hundreds of women. I was shocked! Elvis, who is a crazy character to read about in his own right, had some...interesting...issues with women, and this book holds nothing back. It starts with a short history of Elvis' parents, their families and relationship, and goes all the way until the detailed description of his death and what followed. I loved reading this book because it focused on the facts: here's a boy who wanted to become a star, and here's his ultimate downfall. There were so many things about Elvis that I had no clue about, and...so many naughty (very naughty) descriptions of his relations that at some points I literally said, "What!?" out-loud, to which my mother-in-law would say, "What did Elvis do now?" and I really, really couldn't explain it to her. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of biographies, and this one quickly became my favorite...it's truly fascinating to read a behind the scenes look at one of the most influential musicians (and men) of our time.
