In an effort to be ever new and interesting to you lovelies, I bring you this fun and different costume-- Pablo Picasso. My dear, unhelpful friend Luis pointed out to me that Picasso wore sweaters and sweatshirts, and pants...not dresses, and that girls too wear pants. I reminded him that it was the dress of the day, and raised the point that at some point Picasso probably did wear a dress: artists, you know?
Anyway, this Envelope Neck Jersey Dress from Old Navy is my kind of dress, I love, love stripes. Wear it with black boots, black tights and carry around a paint brush, the bigger the better (easier to recognize). When someone asks you how you are, say "blue" and giggle. Talk about art and allow yourself an evening of sounding pretentious. If you want to really go for it in more of a "Parisian Artist" direction and less of a Picasso, wear a beret. I'd wear a beret all the time if I could, but Halloween is a great excuse.
Re-purpose it with a jean jacket and flats, even with the same black boots and no paint brush. The stripes are a very easy look to do simply because the dress has enough interest on its own, it doesn't need much embellishment. Wear it with Gap circa 1990s in mind and you can't go wrong.

Come to think of it, there are so many artists which make really lovely costumes-- Frida Khalo, Salvador Dali, and Andy Warhol just to name a few. What other awesome artist costumes can you lovelies think of? I'd love to know!
