Happy Thursday, lovelies! Guess what? No school today! The power was out all over Long Island, due to this rain, so I got to stay home today. Know what I'm doing with my time? Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! And, it feels so good. I'm organizing papers that we haven't gone through, uh, ever...What are you all up to today? Preparing for an Autumn themed weekend? Anyone going apple picking or pumpkin picking? Anyone going to a Fall wedding? Our engagement party is coming up in a few weeks (more deets on that later!), and I'm trying to find a great dress for it. If I was going to a Fall wedding this weekend, I think I'd don this very Joan Holloway dress (no pun intended with the "don," Ha. Ha.). The Fontana di Trevi Dress is a classic LBD sure to make you feel feminine, flirty, and very lovely. I'd pair this with bright red heels and lipstick!

Hi loves! Guess what today is? School picture day! I never know what to wear for picture day...and even though I'm the teacher, it's still a scary morning to get ready for! If I had it my way, I'd be putting on this classic Plaid Silk Dress from Amanda Archer. I've swooned over Amanda's store before, but this dress would really take the cake for picture day. It's sophisticated, yet adorable, and feminine. I love the length, which keeps it stylish for school, yet the ruffles around the collar make it fun and a little flirty. What would you wear for picture day?!

Isn't today one of those days you'd much rather be cuddled up in bed with a good book? I'm most definitely in one of those moods today! I would love to be wrapped up in this Blueberry Wedding Quilt from The Country Porch...I love the gorgeous quilt design, and the soft blue colors are so soothing! Check out The Country Porch for lovely, sweet, and classic home decor (like this Blueberry Toile Quilt; it would make any room look like it belonged in a magazine!)

Morning, loves! How was your weekend? We celebrated our beaut cousin Kate's upcoming nuptials at her bridal shower (where we played a very competitive bridal bingo, and my grandma beat out everyone to win!), and then Sunday was full of cleaning and wedding planning. Speaking of wedding planning, I'm starting to look at invitation designs for inspiration; check out these original and gorgeous invites from, where else, but Martha Stewart Weddings. Which one is your favorite? I find it so fascinating how the invite sets the tone for the whole wedding, don't you?!

PS. Long Island lovelies, check out Someday Designs for beautiful invitations! I love supporting local businesses, don't you?

Happy Friday! Here are some things I'm finding lovely going into the weekend...

  • Combine Collective Black Walnut Keyboard Tray, Luis sent this to me and I stared and smiled at it for a full 45 seconds. I just love the precision of this piece, it is very specially and well made-- I love the attention to detail!
  • Tiny Footprint Coffee, Kyle from Tiny Footprint Coffee contacted Olivia and I earlier this week wondering if we'd like to try some of their coffee. Well, let's put it this way, the saddest point of my day is picking up my coffee cup and realizing it is empty. So, yes, yes KyleI would LOVE to try some of Tiny Footprint Coffee's coffee. Kyle sent it over immediately, and today we grind, brew and sip-- review to come Monday!
  • Modcloth's Sailing into the Sunset Dress, oh my, I may need to buy this ASAP. I've been looking for a nautical themed dress for quite some time. I love the neckline, it looks almost cartoon-ish, but remains totally elegant at the same time.

Red letter news, lovelies: I got my dress! It came in the mail yesterday (I ordered it from Helene Bridal), and of course, I had to try it on right away. I didn't think I'd be one of "those girls" to fall in love with her dress, but I totally and utterly did. Helene Bridal did an amazing job (I put all my measurements in, and the dress was custom made for me!); I couldn't have asked for a dress which was more "me." I can't post pictures of the dress (don't fret, I'll post a ton of wedding pics in June--uh, hello wedding is 9 months away!), but check out this adorable, custom hanger from Dawn's Craft Store. How sweet of a gift would this be for a bride-to-be, or even the wedding party? I love that it says, "Mrs." It would be great to have this to take pictures with! Love this idea.

It's a busy day over here, but I wanted to quickly post this new, new, new and totally lovely dress from ModCloth! How classic is that sweetheart neckline? I love that side bow; and, the fuchsia hues make this dress appropriate for an event all year long. Where would you wear this pretty little number to?! (PS. Bought the dresses for the maid of honor and bridesmaid last night! Will share ASAP!)

Hello loves! How are you doing today? I am Tired with a capital "T"! Though I could crawl under my desk and nap, I am still so happy that Autumn is on it's way (Thursday!). While walking around the school campus today, there was a million acorns all over the grounds. It's amazing what nature can do, isn't it? Check out these Autum-inspired jewelry pieces; get yourself adorned with acorns to celebrate the Fall!

How adorable is this Autumn Squiral Ring? I love that it looks so vintage!

These "Bronze Brass Acorns Antique Style Earrings with White Ivory Pearls" could be easily dressed up or down.

The Creamy Peal Necklace would be a lovely gift to give an Autumn baby!

Hi lovelies! How was your weekend? We had a jam packed weekend, full of watching a lot of Bluegrass music, eating, and outlet shopping (scored skirts at Express for $8 each!). Remember how I said that I love the end of summer sales? Check out this adorable dress from Delias. The Alayna Shirt Dress was $44.50, and is now marked down to $19.99. I love the sweet ruffles and deep v-neckline. This would be appropriate for work, a night out with your guy, or a lunch with the gals. It also comes in white--so lovely looking!

Hi lovelies, as Jenny very excitedly pointed out: it's finally Friday! What are you all doing this weekend? Tonight, Jenny and I (and the very-kind-to-accompany-us-fiance) are going dress shopping for all the thousands of little events we have coming up...Dress Barn here we come! Saturday and Sunday, I'll be sitting back and relaxing at Palmer Vineyards, watching Eric play guitar with Miller's Crossing. Can't wait! Any good plans? Shopping? Parties? Laying low? Whatever you do, have a great time, and enjoy the new Fall weather!

How adorable are these "Nesting Doll Earrings" from Unexpected Expectancy? I love all the sweet and lovely items from UE; best yet: each month, 10% of all the sales go to a different charity! Beautiful and generous, I love it!

It's Friday! It's FRIDAY! And know what else?! This adorable tan leather bag from Ray Design on Etsy is ON SALE. $38 down from $69? Yes, please. I love this bag, it looks like it must be the perfect size, and I love the tan leather. Check out the rest of the store, there are a ton of adorable bags and wallets which seem to be on sale. Sale! Friday!

Hi lovelies! I love this time of year for so many reasons (boots, scarves, cardigans, hot apple cider), but one of my most favorite reasons to love fall is: summer sales! Charlotte Russe is having a gigantic sale on their inventory. Check out my three favorite dress finds, which are not only on a great sale, but you get another 25% off during checkout on each item!

Floral Halter Dress, $18.99 (plus an extra 25% discount, seen when added to bag!)

Vintage Lace Floral Dress, $20.99 (plus an extra 25% discount, seen when added to bag!)

Floral A-Line Dress, $15.99 (plus an extra 25% discount, seen when added to bag!)

Have you lovely ladies and gents ever seen cake buntings? A bunting is an old-fashioned party decoration, and the store Kiki La Ru uses buntings to decorate cakes! I love the way that the 3D decoration makes the cakes look so sweet and festive. The many designs she offers would add a touch of loveliness to any party you're hosting! These are some of my favorite bunting-tops, which one would you put on your birthday cake?! (Click each picture for more info)

While clicking around VistaPrint.com, I found some interesting invites-- some shocking and some lovely! Vista Print offers insanely reasonable prices for your big day, they offer everything from save the dates (and save the date magnets), to menus, RSVP cards, thank you notes and invitations-- they even offer packages with discounts! You can design your own head to toe, or use one of their designs, which range from the strange to the elegant! Check these out. (click any of the invites to see how you can customize them, and the backs-- which are also beautiful!)

The Good (good for you Vista Print for embracing all lifestyles!)
The Bad (by bad I mean sad, weird and frustratingly buying into stereotypes)

And here are some I just find Lovely!

How amazing is not only this dress, but the whole image? I love the loose braids and natural lighting of the photograph. The bodice is made of stretch cotton, meaning that this dress doesn't only look outstanding, but would feel amazing to wear, as well. The skirt is hand dyed, and is reminiscent of "ballet dancer meets Carrie Bradshaw." So in love with this! (PS. there's a bow in the back, too!)

Happy Monday, loves! How was your weekend? Eric and I had our engagement shoot with the extremely wonderful Maddie and Monica of Hart + Sol Photo. We had the best, best time hanging out with them and making our photographic-vision come true. Check out this sneak peek picture that Maddie sent over last night; I totally adore it, it looks like an ad, doesn't it?! I love natural light...it always makes everything seem so romantic!

Well, it started to get cool this weekend, and the sun was setting way too early...must mean Fall is definitely on it's way! I love this Aerial Ribbon Skirt from ModCloth as a perfect "Summer-to-Autumn" accessory. The colors remind me of a beautiful Autumn sunset. This skirt would go perfect with brown boots and an oversized scarf. What would you wear with this skirt with for Fall?

How adorable is this Charlie Chaplin/silent movie engagement shoot? So creative! (via Ruffled)

Happy Friday, loves! What are you doing this weekend? Eric and I are having our engagement photoshoot! Not only am I super excited, but I'm a super lucky gal because Jenny went to NYU with the talented Maddie Eisenhart of Heart +Sol Photography. Maddie, and her accomplice in crime, Monica, are trekking to my grandmother's house this Saturday to photograph Eric and I (and a whole lotta banjos) at the playhouse my grandfather built us as kids. We're kinda going for a "country-couple-in-the-woods-with-quilts-and-banjos" theme. I bought some new dresses, Eric is shinning up his instruments, and we're ready to go! I'm not one who loves being in front of the camera, but I know with Maddie and Monica behind the scenes, the shoot will truly be lovely! I love engagement photos, because they differ from wedding photos in that they truly show the personality of the couple. Check out these adorable and unique engagement photos from around the wedding-blog-scene...which one is your favorite? Did you get engagement photos? Can't wait to show the final shots to you!

I love this vintage beach photoshoot; she looks so happy and over the moon! (via Ruffled)

How cute is the story here? A vintage couple with a broken down car! I love when e-photos tell a story. (via Ruffled)

I love the juxtaposition of the huge tree and the small couple; this was taken in North Carolina. Gorgeous. (via Snippet and Ink)

How cute is this Mason Jar Drink Dispenser from Pottery Barn? I love that it looks like it belongs in the country, right next to apple trees and berry bushes. I'm a huge fan of using mason jars for, well, everything, so I adore that this is a giant mason jar-turned-entertaining piece. And, don't forget to get the Mason Jar Mugs which match! How adorable would this set be for an outdoor-porch-end-of-summer party? Classic and lovely.

Hi all! Sorry I've been so quiet lately...I went right from Chicago to the first day of school! While in Chicago, besides eating amazing vegetable lasagna (I literally ate a pan full), we went to the coolest place ever: The Volo Antique Mall. It was never-ending! We walked, and walked, and looked at millions of antiques, and we just went from one building to another. I didn't buy anything (it was too overwhelming to pick one thing out!), but it was amazing to see all these antiques houses in one place.

On a totally different note, there's been a lot of (I reiterate: a lot of) wedding talk lately. It's all very exciting putting together this special and beautiful day, and Jenny and I are having a blast scouring the internet for new ideas. Like this one, for example: check out the beyond gorgeous crepe paper flowers in the photo above. There's an easy-to-follow DIY guide to creating these beauts on The Bride's Cafe; seriously, these flowers, which look incredibly hard to make only take 6 supplies and 7 steps to create. This takes "paper craft" to a whole new level; imagine making all of your centerpieces (or bouquets) out of paper, yourself!

I was right, the long weekend was totally restorative! I spent today at my grandmother's, doing laundry, making sugar free chocolate muffins (yes! I will share that recipe...once I figure out the ingredient amounts!) and later sugar laden brownies.

Somewhere along the way I fell in love with this Cameo Bobby Pin from Ebony and Ivory on Etsy. I love the idea of wearing this in your hair for a special event or for every day! I love cameos, as well you know, and I love the image of a messy bun with this little baby peeking out! So cute! And wouldn't it look so cute in Olivia's hair as her "something new"? Hm...let the wedding buying begin!

Hi! Did you think I forgot about you?! Well, never! I've been feeling a little quiet since Mr. Luis took off for the warm coast-- but I am trusting this long weekend to give me plenty of sleep and relaxing time to get my strength back up! I've decided to start working out again (yay, me!) after months and months of not.

But you know what would make me feel better, like instantly? A combination of the items below. And yes, the cake plate is included, I'm really into cake plates right now.

All baked goods are from A Sugar Affair on Etsy (I love their banner!). From left to right: Paradise Brownies ("fudgy brownies filled with sweetened coconut and white chocolate chips, topped with macadamia nuts and drizzled with caramel and chocolate.") , Gourmet Rice Krispie Bars (honestly, my favorite food!), Cream Cheese Swirled Brownies (I just heard on Tyra, or somewhere, that these are really good for you..fats and dark chocolates and all, seriously...they're like...vitamins).

The small grey lace cake plate is from Jeanette Zeis Ceramics on Etsy. And if I'm being perfectly honest with you, I have been lusting after it for months. MONTHS! Also, her tag line is "Lovely pottery for the home"- yes! Love her stuff, from her cake plates to her berry bowls.

In lieu of buying more things (do you know how much "Bride" paraphernalia I've bought in the past week?!), and eating trays and trays of brownies, I'll be trying to relax, sleep and work out. How's that sound? Any great ideas on getting into a great mood?

Happy Friday, loves! It's a long weekend! What are you all doing this weekend? Eric and I are heading to the windy city; we're going to see his family in Chicago and I'm so, so excited. I can't wait to eat his mother's Amish soup, veggie lasagna, and mouth-watering sloppy joes...I'll probably come home five pounds heavier! Anyhow, while we're there we're hitting up some antique shops, a boot shop (I'm in the market for white wedding cowgirl boots!), and my absolute favorite: Hobby Lobby! Before you head out for the weekend, take a peek at the gorgeous clothing from My Black Dress; don't you adore this Mandy Dress? It's a great mix of Carrie Bradshaw, Audrey Hepburn, and Betty Draper. I love the fitted top, small belt, and beautiful full skirt. It's a classic!
